The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) supports proposals for seed money and co-financing of INTERREG B-funded projects with national resources. The projects are supposed to focus on thematic priorities that are of special interest to the Federal Government and contribute to sustainable spatial development in Germany.

- introducing new actors to transnational collaboration,
- development of long-term cooperative relations and public-private partnerships,
- qualification and certification for strengthening the competitiveness of cities and regions as well as
- implementation of the "Territorial Agenda 2020" of the EU and contribution to the fulfillment of the goals of the "Europe-2020-Strategy" of the EU locally.
